YerevanRaffi K. Hovannisian, Armenias first Minister of Foreign Affairs and founder of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), today met at ACNIS headquarters with a delegation of 16 generals and other high-ranking officers from the National Defense University. On a visit to Armenia within the framework of the Capstone program, these representatives of all services of the US armed forces discussed Armenian-American cooperation, regional developments, and Armenia's internal and international policy.
Founded in 1994 by Hovannisian and supported by the Lincy Foundation and a global network of contributors, ACNIS serves as a link between innovative scholarship and the public policy challenges facing Armenia and the Armenian people in the post-Soviet world. It also aspires to be a catalyst for creative, strategic thinking and a wider understanding of the new global environment. In 2003, the Center focuses increasingly on public outreach, civic education, and applied research on critical domestic and foreign policy issues for the state and the nation.
