Against the backdrop of the helplessness of Armenia’s incompetent, and since June 7, also illegitimate leadership, the president of Azerbaijan continues to dictate, from a triumphant position, the demands that had been temporarily delayed due to the Armenian parliamentary elections. The dictator of Absheron is sending local vassals to Yerevan, rushing them to settle the "debts," most likely in order to present the next "tranche" of demands a day sooner. Aliyev's affairs are going well: two more enclaves from the territory of the Republic of Armenia are subject to handover, which has already been agreed upon, and the process of amending the Constitution is very close to completion.
The only issue regarding which the Armenian side still seems to be "hemming and hawing" is the resettlement of 300,000 Azerbaijani refugees in our country, in Armenia, which Ilham has dubbed with the conquest-oriented toponym "Western Azerbaijan." For that country, settling a large number of families here is confessed to be of strategic importance. It is no coincidence that the issue of return, coupled with the theme of "Western Azerbaijan," is a subject of special care for the son of Heydar. Meanwhile, in the case of Armenia, its implementation will unequivocally herald the beginning of the end of Armenian statehood, and there is absolutely no exaggeration in this.
Despite this, the "300,000" theme generated at the highest state level in the neighboring country, which has not left the headlines of the Azerbaijani press for a long time, has never received a proper counterattack. Aliyev, by regularly developing this sensitive idea and bringing the issue widely into the international arena, including the UN, no longer even hides his territorial ambitions toward Armenia. Furthermore, he declares from all platforms that the current territory of Armenia is historically Azerbaijani land, and that, sooner or later, they will take ownership of the lands that belong to them. Unfortunately, we do not see an adequate response from the Armenian authorities to these hostile actions.
Whether Pashinyan realizes it or not, his "educated" and "constructive" colleague is making it clear that the entry of 300,000 Azerbaijanis into the Republic of Armenia will be the first stake claimed in "their historical land." Pashinyan lacks the "guts" to tell Aliyev the truth straight to his face, to debate, to counter, or to reject; consequently, regarding the return of 300,000 Azerbaijanis to the Republic of Armenia, he merely says: "That is an invented and fabricated topic; the issue of the return of that number of Azerbaijanis has never been on any agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan." And when answering journalists' questions, he personally guarantees: "During my tenure, 300,000 Azerbaijanis will not be resettled in the Republic of Armenia." But who is there to believe his assurances?
Years ago, he provided the exact same "guarantees" in favor of preserving Artsakh, when he shouted across Stepanakert's Renaissance Square that "Artsakh is Armenia, and that's it!" What happened to Artsakh after that is known to us all. God forbid the same happens to Armenia, a probability which, by the way, is high. While Pashinyan tries to convince the Armenian public that the aspirations of the Azerbaijani side are a "fabrication," both regarding the resettlement of 300,000 Azeri families and the concept of "Western Azerbaijan," Aliyev has already created practical prerequisites to realize the return of the Azerbaijanis.
Namely: a) he has founded and funded an entity called the "Western Azerbaijan Community;" b) he insists that Armenia has no alternative but to agree to the return of 300,000 Azerbaijanis; c) he pushes the return program forward by organizing meetings between foreign officials visiting Azerbaijan and the council of the "Western Azerbaijan Community;" d) he has organized conferences in many countries around the world, including the week before last inside the U.S. Congress building. Furthermore, Aliyev has brought an even weightier initiative to life: he has forwarded two appeals from the "Western Azerbaijan Community" to all UN member states to secure the international community's support for his resettlement plan.
To all of this, however, the resistance from the official Armenian side is zero, which means there is no objection. Is there really none…?
