Armenian political thought (if we have ever had one) is returning to its roots - the behavior typical of stateless people. This implies choosing a course of action to seek the help of the "international community" relying on the favor of others rather than conducting coordinated foreign and domestic policy; adopting foreign policy direction consistent with the state's interests; making the state-administrative structures meet the requirements of the time.
The best proof of the above-mentioned is organizing rallies or other protest actions in front of the offices of foreign diplomatic missions in the capital of one's own country, in the hope of getting help, in which political forces, including those represented in the parliament, participate.
In the case of stateless peoples, even in the case of national minorities, it is clear- they do not have any other tools to attract the attention of the international community to their problems than to influence the conscience of the same international community through various protest actions, acting from the positions of the petitioner in one case, and the right holder in another case to deliver their message.
However, it is unclear when the public of a UN member country, whose government has mechanisms to formally address the UN Security Council, acts in this way. Even more so, the factions represented in the parliament, which can meet with the ambassadors, demonstrate in front of the embassies. It is a very serious alarm. We are turning from a country with a state into a stateless society. For now, psychologically.
Both the government and even the official opposition are called to conduct politics, develop political concepts, speak the political language, understand where the world is going, and what challenges are facing us, and adequately respond to matured problems. It is especially important to inform, unite and lead the public in the face of challenges.
This is the calling and honorable commitment of the government, the National Assembly, and other holders of power, the noble mission of serving the people, which they are not only unable to cope with at least organizationally, but are also unable to understand the role of the state itself and the functions of civil servants. Moreover, they themselves sometimes celebrate or personally participate in this or that protest action held in the areas adjacent to the offices of foreign missions.
This phenomenon also existed before, but after 2018 the decline deepened, which led to the defeat of 2020, which was, in fact, predetermined. Let us record that there is a deep crisis in the political system in Armenia, from which the exits are not visible at the moment. The solution is the resignation of the current government, but the public hesitates because they do not see the contours of the future government, as well as the parliament, which will inspire confidence. This is our main internal challenge today.
The demand for a new political force is ripe, but the force itself is not visible. Where is the force that will be able to bring new thinking to the public and political field; a new leader understandable for the majority; generate new organizational-structural forms, offer an alternative to the existing political system, with its ruling part and opposition, that will reach the mind and soul of the public?
